Who
Are We? An Introduction to The Troop....
18th Georgetown (North) is a school-based Scout Troop, supported by
S.M. Sri Pinang formerly known as S.M Sri Inai, a private secondary school in Penang. Established in
1983, it has since became one of the best-known troops in Penang,
despite its young age and the small number of Scouts in the troop.
The troop will be celebrating its 23rd Anniversary in 2006.
The
troop, itself, is run and managed by an executive committee which
consists of the Scoutmaster and the Scouts. We have ten patrols and
troop meetings are held every week, with additional training
sessions arranged separately during weekends and the holidays.
Our
troop is active in badge work and in participating competitions. Till
date, 18th Georgetown (North) is proud of its heritage for being one
of the most active troops in producing King Scouts, the highest
honour for a Scout within the island.
Scouts
in the troop are taught basic Scouting skills and self-development
which includes character-building. As a member organization of the
Penang State Scouts' Council, the troop pledges to uphold the
standard of Scouting in Penang.
