Kemahiran (skills) Badge Requirements

1. Achieveed the highest standards in Marching (Asas Perbarisan), Kawad Tongkat and Flag-bearing as demonstated in the Usaha, Maju and Jaya badge requirements.

2. Learn and tested on the following knots, 

  1. a) Catspaw 
  2. b) Carrick Bend 
  3. c) Turk's Head 
  4. d) Scaffold Hitch
  5. e) Racking Bend
  6. f) Monkey Fist
  7. g) Short Splice
  8. h) japanese Lashing
  9. i) Filipino Lashing
  10. j) Rope Tackle / Harvester's Hitch

3. Learn and tested on the different tackles and anchorages:

  1. a) 3-2-1 Anchorage
  2. b) Log and Picker
  3. c) Dead-man

4. Build a pioneering project (drawbridge, aerial runway, bridges, towers) in patrol.

5. Further your knowledge on the basics of Orienteering skills and ways to make a cross-bearing in navigating a location on the map with a compass.

6. Tested on the basic Survival Skills, making a bivouac and using it, constructing basic traps and backwoodsman cooking (rice, fish, meat, egg)

7. Identify 5 types of animal foot prints and make 2 plaster casts.

8. Learn up on Estimation skills - estimating heights and widths.

9. Construct a model pioneering project.

10. Complete one of the following assignments:

  1. Swim 50 metres in full uniform
  2. Rope-throwing with a 20 metres rope for a distance of 12 metres, reaching a "goal post" (2 metres in widths). 2 out of 3 tries to be successful attempts.

OR

a) Learn the basics of Abseiling/Rappel, the equipments, safety measures, belay system, and carry out abseiling for 8 metres.

OR

  1. Able to construct, know the safety measures and go for 12 of the following Commando Challenges: suspension bridge, commando crossing, titi pacak, rope-swinging, monkey swing, deadman's crawl, tyre crossing, crawling under nets, mini tunnel crawl, vertical rope climb, tree climbing, tree climbing, vertical pole climb and tree trunk climbing.
  2. Use a fireman's chair knot or bowline on the bight to transport an injured person from a height of 5 metres (trees, buildings or cliffs)
